Barbecue Rub
Recipe for a typical American barbecue seasoning
Rubs are simple spice blends that give grilled meat or fish that certain something. You can either sprinkle the grilled food shortly before grilling, or rubbing meat, fish or poultry a few hours in advance so that a, so that the seasoning into the meat feeding properly.
This Barbecue Rub is a traditional American blend, which gives pork shoulder, ribs or chicken a typical American taste. It is made with the everyday spices you have in the cupboard and tastes just fine. For 500 g of meat, it takes about 3 teaspoons, a chicken 1? to 2 tablespoons.
Serves approx. 50g Barbecue Rub:
45 g brown sugar
5 tblsp. hot paprika powder
4 tblsp. coarse salt
3 tblsp. black pepper, ground
2 tsp. granulated garlic
2 tsp onion powder
2 tsp celery seed
1 tsp cayenne chili powder
Preparation:
Mix all ingredients in a bowl - preferably with your hands. Store in an air-tight container or keep in the freezer in a sealable plastic bag, it keeps at least 6 months.
