Spaghetti and Meatballs
Since Lady and the Tramp, this special dish has become an established favourite on the dinner table. Everyone knows the romantic scene, but nobody cooks it at home. Of course, it is always easier to order food in a restaurant, but only by cooking it yourself you truly get in touch with the versatile flavours of the dishes.
Ingredients:
500 g spaghetti
500 g minced beef
1 egg
1 large onion
4 stalks fresh parsley
600 ml strained tomatoes (from a can)
3 tbsp tomato paste
1 pinch of sugar
salt & pepper
Olive oil
Breadcrumbs
Fresh basil
Grated parmesan
Flour
Preparation:
Peel and chop the onion into small cubes. Wash and pluck the parsley and also chop finely.
Mix the minced meat with 4 tbsp breadcrumbs, egg, onion and parsley and season with salt and pepper. If the mixture is not firm enough to form balls, add some breadcrumbs.
Shape the mince mixture into 2 - 3 cm meatballs. Put the flour on a plate and roll the meatballs in it.
Put the pasta water on at the same time, then prepare the spaghetti by following the instructions on the packet. Remove from the heat and drain.
Heat the oil in a frying pan and fry the meatballs until golden brown on all sides. When they are ready, add the tomato paste and the strained tomatoes. Season the mixture with a little salt and pepper and a touch of sugar. Let the sauce simmer for about 5 minutes so that it thickens a little. Add the pasta, fold in and divide directly onto the plates. If you like, you can decorate with some basil and parmesan.
Enjoy your meal!
If you like it hot, you can add a certain kick to the meat balls with these chilli powders:
