Bhut Jolokia Peach Chili Flakes

The peach coloured Bhut Jolokia chili ripens to a soft peach tone, but lacks nothing compared to the fiery spiciness of its red sister.

The Bhut Jolokia (Bih Jolokia) variety was the spiciest chili in the world from 2007-2011, until it was outstripped by newer, hotter varieties. It originates from the region of Assam in India and has been cultivated and used there for many years. Investigations by the Chile Pepper Institute in 2005 gave it a value of 1.001.304 SHU, making the Bhut Jolokia the first chili variety to exceed the magic One Million mark.

The Bhut Jolokia Peach Peach chili flakes are extremely spicy, have the typical flavour of the Bhut Jolokia variety, but with a slightly fruity undertone which reminds some of peaches. They are suitable for spicing up Asian dishes, in particular Indian curries, meat and fish dishes. The fruity note also harmonises well with African and Caribbean cuisine.

Production Info

We have our Bhut Jolokia Peach chillies cultivated by a contract farmer, so we have influence on the whole production process, in particular the quality. The freshly harvested chillies are gently dried and then ground. In this way, the flavours are almost completely retained.
