Serrano Green Chili Powder

Serrano chillies are mainly harvested green in Mexico. The chilli powder of the green serranos tastes similar to jalapeno chilli powder, but it is much hotter. It is excellent for spicing up salad dressings and salsas, but also for seasoning chilli con carne, stews and as a seasoning on the table.

Serrano chillies, along with jalapeños, are a classic of Mexican cuisine and, together with tomatoes, form the basis for the famous Mexican Salsa Pico de Gallo. The name Serrano indicates that they originate from the Mexican highlands. In their country of origin, Mexico, the pods are traditionally harvested green.
