Hungarian Hot Wax Chili Seeds

Information: All types of chili that belong to the “Wax” variety get their name from the wax-like surface of their fruits. The Hungarian Hot Wax pepper originates from Hungary and can develop a particularly strong spicy heat. When still unripe they are green in colour, they then go pale for a while before finally turning orange-red.

Growing up to 18cm long, these chilies stand out thanks to their aromatic, juicy sweet flavour. They have found their place in the kitchen being used fresh and raw, although they also taste fantastic stuffed or grilled.

Care: Germination temperature is between 20°C  and 28°C (germination period: 7-20 days); it is therefore recommended to use a greenhouse and a heating mat. The plants need fresh, well-fertilised permeable soil and should not be left in standing water. They should be placed in a sunny, sheltered place with at least 6 hours of sunlight per day, if not more. Place the plants outside around 2 to 3 weeks after the last frost. When you plant the seedlings outdoors, take care to leave at least 30cm of space between each plant.
