In our product range, you will find a special potting soil. This potting soil helps ensure that the chili seeds grow well and that they are given all the minerals they need. Used together, both products are very efficient and will help ensure that the fruits of your chili plant later mature to reach a spice level between 4 and 6.
Tips and tricks for optimum cultivation
You can find out the maturation period for each different seed variety by reading the respective product description. The maturation period refers to the time taken for chili peppers to develop and ripen during the summer months under perfect conditions. Due to our climate, it may take a little longer until maturation is fully complete. It can be very helpful to compare pictures of ripe specimens with the fruits of your plant. But first, you should begin with the chili seeds themselves. These should be germinated in mid-February, leaving them on damp (but not wet) cotton wool before transferring the germinated seeds to a flower pot or dish already filled with the correct type of soil. Alternatively, you can also plant the seeds in the soil straight away, making sure to keep the soil damp. Please choose a plant pot, which corresponds with the subsequent size of the full-grown plant. The container chosen should also be easy to move around. It is best if you can support young seedlings very carefully with a thin stick, gingerly attaching this support without tying the stalk too tightly. This helps stop the plant from tipping over and gives it a good growth form.
From chili seeds to fruits in the 4-6 range of spiciness
Water the plants with a little fertiliser often enough to keep the soil damp, but never completely wet. You should start to use a little more fertiliser when the fruiting bodies begin to develop. Place the plant in the sun for as much time as possible. During the summer months, you should protect the plants from the intense strength of the midday sun. A combination of shade and a bit of sunshine is perfect during these hours. When the fruits are about 4 weeks away from being full ripened, you can use a little trick to reach the 4-6 range of spiciness. Do not give the plants any water during the first of these 4 weeks. Water as normal during the second week. Do not water them again during the third week and water as usual in the fourth and final week. The chili plant reacts to this sudden lack of water by increasing its capsaicin production within the fruits, thereby making them much hotter. We hope you succeed in growing as many wonderful plants from our chili seeds as possible with a spicy heat rating of 4-6.
