Sunflower Velvet Queen Seeds

Info: Sunflower "Samtkönigin" (Velvet Queen) lives up to her name: she blooms in an unusual, velvety dark orange and is a colourful eye-catcher in the garden. The plants grow up to 150 cm tall and are richly branched with a multitude of flowers. The 12-15 cm large flowers are also well suited as cut flowers for the vase.
Sunflowers are grateful and undemanding garden flowers, which are particularly beautiful as background plants. These vibrant blooms are also known to attract an array of beneficial insects to the garden as well, such as butterflies, bumblebees, honeybees and birds.

Sowing & care: Sowing takes place directly from April outdoors. Sowing depth is about 1cm at a distance of 40-60 cm. A pre-culture in the house is also possible and brings an earlier bloom. Sunflowers like a sunny, wind-protected location and a loamy, nutrient-rich garden soil, which may also contain some sand for better drainage. They do not like waterlogging because then they tend to root rot. Sunflowers need many nutrients and are grateful for fertilizer or nettle liquid manure.
