Mycorrhiza is a symbiosis of fungi and plants within the root zone. The fungal network envelops the finest roots of the plants and helps the plant to absorb nutrients from the soil in exchange for the photosynthetic product sugar. In addition, the fungi retain heavy metals and thus fulfil a filter function.

Plants with mycorrhizae are more tolerant of various stress factors: e.g. they are less susceptible to frost and have an increased resistance to pathogenic soil organisms. Through the exchange of nutrients, mycorrhizal fungi promote plant growth.

The mycorrhizae are brought to the roots once during planting and form a close intertwining with them throughout the entire plant life. With them the plants achieve an optimal use of the available resources such as water and nutrients. Especially ideal for new plantings and on problematic soils.
