Horehound Seeds

Info: The Horehound is an ancient medicinal herb, originally from the Mediterranean. The bitter agents and tannins contained in the medical plant are particularly effective against stomach problems, digestive problems and persistent cough. The plant is perennial and can grow up to 80 cm high.
Horehound is harvested during flowering. You should use the young leaves and the upper plant components, because the lower leaves taste too bitter. In the kitchen, andorn is rarely used, since the leaves have a very bitter taste with a slightly sharp undertone. Smaller quantities are occasionally used in salads, fat meat dishes or the preparation of herbal liqueurs.

Sowing and care: Horehound is sown outdoors in May or June. For this, cover the seeds only slightly with soil ("light germinators"). The site should be sunny, dry with limy or clayey soils. The plant is frost tolerant up to -12 ° C and does not need to be overwintered. As the plants spreads easily over its seeds, you should remove faded inflorescences quickly.
