Beetroot Cheltenham Green Top Seeds
Info: Cheltenham Green Top is a beetroot cultivated in the UK in 1880. Their name refers to the green foliage and not, as might be expected, to the turnips. The conical beets reach a length of about 23cm. The leaves can be prepared similar to spinach in this variety. But even raw, the leaves can be added to salads.
Sowing & cultivation: Sowing can be done outdoors from April. Sowing depth should be about 2-3cm. A row spacing of 30 x 10cm and a planting distance of 10cm required. Beetroot is a very undemanding vegetable and makes little demands on the ground. A humus rich, nutrient-rich, slightly permeable soil is optimal. The soil must have a constant moisture during the entire growth phase.
