Corn Salad Seeds
Info: This corn salad variety produces large, vigorous leaves and is the perfect strain for winter use.. Despite of its tender leaves, corn salad, also known as lamb`s lettuce, field salad or mâche, is a very cold hardy salad that grows best during autumn and winter and can be picked between November and January. Field salad stores well for up to two weeks in a plastic bag in the refrigerator and is a good supplier for Vitamin C, beta-carotene, B6, B9, Vitamin E, and iron, especially in winter when other sources are rare.
Sowing & Cultivation: Sow successionally at fortnightly intervals from September to late autumn in rows 13mm deep and 15cm apart. Cover seeds with 3mm of fine soil. Thin to 15-20cm apart in rows when the plants are 5cm tall. Corn salad will grow in nearly all soils and situations but enjoys rich moist soil. Harvesting can begin within a few weeks of sowing when the plants have produced four pairs of leaves.
