What few people know: Chilli con carne is a traditional dish of the Texan cowboys. While they were rounding up cattle on the pasture during the day, the meat stewed together with tomatoes and hot chillies on the open fire until it was tender, tasty and well-done. Since they often ate beans with it, they were later added to the recipe. It is only since the end of the last century that it has been loved as a quick and tasty party classic all over the world.
