Garganelli

Tasty egg noodles with a funny story.

Garganelli come from Emilia-Romagna and are small dough pieces that have been rolled into a small roll.
The legend says, that in 1725 a chef should cook Tortellini for a party, and had already prepared the square pasta dumplings and the filling. The cat, however, ate the filling and he had to improvise. So he rolled out of the squares small tubular noodles, the Garganelli.
Outside of Italy, they are little known.

The noodles soak very good sauces with larger pieces, such as with tuna or poultry. Also, they are very tasty salad noodles.
