Oriental meatballs
Transport yourself to the oriental world. With the spicy-fruity meatballs, you learn a different way of tasting, because in cooking we should always be ready to Experiment.
Ingredients:
500 g minced beef
2 eggs
2 spring onions
3 stalks fresh mint
3 stalks fresh coriander
4 dried dates
4 dried figs
4 dried apricots
2 tbsp oil
2 tbsp honey
4 tbsp tomato paste / or ketchup
2 pickled chillies (whole or rings)
2 pinches ginger powder
1 pinch ground cardamom
2 pinches ground cumin
2 pinches ground star anise
Salt & pepper
Breadcrumbs (as needed)
Preparation:
Chop dried fruit and chillies into fine pieces and put in a bowl. Wash the onions and chop into small rolls. Then wash mint and coriander, pick off the leaves and chop them as well. Add mint, onions and coriander to chillies and dried fruit.
Add minced beef to the fruit mixture, as well as all the other spices, honey, and tomato paste / or ketchup, beat the two eggs and add them to the bowl as well. Work the mixture into a compact mass. If the mixture feels too soft, add some breadcrumbs to strengthen it. Shape the minced meat mixture into balls about 2 - 3 cm in size.
Heat the oil in a pan, place the balls in the pan and fry until golden brown on all sides. Serve with couscous and tomato sauce or couscous salad as desired..
