Gambas al ajillo - Tapas

Recipe for Spanish tapas or starter - Garlic King Prawns

Prawns in garlic oil are a popular starter in Spain or are served as tapas.
Very tasty and very easy and quick to prepare.

Ingredients for four

600 g king prawns ready to cook (without head and shell)
6 cloves of garlic
2 dried red chillies, seeded and finely crumbled
¼ bunch of flat parsley (optional)
250 ml olive oil
sea salt

Preparation

Heat about 1 cm high olive oil in a pan with a high rim.

Clean the garlic cloves, slice and add to the oil with the chillies and fry. When the garlic is lightly browned, add the prawns and fry for 2 minutes, turn and fry for another 2 minutes. Add salt to taste. When the prawns are pink, they`re done.

Immediately spread on four preheated clay bowls, sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve with baguette.
