Arbol chillies or "tree" chillies are spicy, hot, dried chillies used throughout Mexico to flavour soups, stocks and sauces.
Arbol chillies have a fiery, bright red colour when ripe and are later dried in the sun to increase their heat and powerful flavour.
Arbol chillies are characterised by their smoky and slightly nutty flavour, reminiscent of walnuts. The pure heat of the Arbol chillies makes them the ideal ingredient for homemade salsas, sauces, pastes and soups.
