Rocoto San Isidro Chili Seeds

Information: The Rocoto San Isidro comes from the Canary Island of La Palma and is the most untypical Rocoto, as it has no dark purple flowers, but rather pale violet to white. In addition, it remains smaller in their growth compared to the other Rocoto varieties (up to 150 cm). The chillies, however, are quite large, very juicy and have a fruity falvour with apple and paprika notes and a strong heat. They are ideal for cooking, filling and pickling. Rocotos are relatively robust, tolerate slightly cooler temperatures and can be planted in the field (but only if you do not want to overwinter them).

Care: Germination temperature is between 22°C and 28°C (germination period: 8-21 days); it is therefore recommended to use a greenhouse and a heating mat. The plants need fresh, well-fertilised, permeable soil, and do not tolerate waterlogging. They should be planted in a sunny, protected place with at least 6 hours of sunlight - preferably more. Put the plants outside approx. 2 to 3 weeks after the last frost. To keep the plant over the winter, cut it back by 20cm after harvesting and place in a light place where it is at least 15°C.
