Aji Cristal Chili Seeds
Information: The aji cristal chili originates from Chile. It grows rather large and clearly ramified plants with long leaves. It develops numerous elongated, red chillies with juicy flesh that can grow up to 8cm long and 2.5cm wide. They have a pleasant fruity-sweet flavour with a slightly acidic note, typical of the Capsicum baccatum variety. Aji cristal chilies are well-suited for pickling or grilling with garlic oil, particularly when they are still in their yellowish-green phase, as this is when the flavour should be at its strongest. However, they also add an incomparable flavour to fresh salsas or simmering sauces.
Care: Germination temperature is between 22°C and 28°C (germination period: 8-20 days); it is therefore recommended to use a greenhouse and a heating mat. The plants need fresh, well-fertilised permeable soil and should not be left in standing water. They should be placed in a sunny, sheltered place with at least 6 hours of sunlight per day, if not more. The plants are well-suited to outside cultivation; care should be taken to maintain a distance of at least 45-60cm between individual plants. If you choose to grow the plant in a pot, cut it back by 20cm after harvesting and place in a light place where it is at least 15°C to keep it over the winter.
