7 Pod Douglah Brown Chili Seeds
Information: The 7 pod chillies (also known as 7 pot chillies) are some of the hottest chillies in the world and on a same high level as the bhut jolokia or Trinidad Scorpion. It gets its name from the idea that just one pepper is enough to spice up 7 full cooking pots (pods).
The fruits of the 7 Pod Douglah have a similar shape to the habanero pepper, although they have a more uneven surface and can grow to be even larger. They ripen from lime green to black/purple and finally brown and they have an aromatic fruity flavour, again similar to that of the habanero chili. Thanks to the thin outer walls, these peppers can be dried well and ground into a powder.
You should always use disposable gloves when handling these chillies.
Care: Germination temperature is between 24°C and 30°C (germination period: 10-22 days); it is therefore recommended to use a greenhouse and a heating mat. The plants need fresh, well-fertilised, permeable soil, and do not tolerate waterlogging. They should be planted in a sunny, protected place with at least 6 hours of sunlight - preferably more. As the plants have a particularly long maturation period, it is recommended to grow them in a pot, so that you can easily bring the plant inside when the temperature falls below 12°C during the day, allowing all the fruits to ripen. To keep the plant over the winter, cut it back by 20cm after harvesting and place in a light place where it is at least 15°C.
