Sensitive Plant (Mimosa pudica) Seeds
Info: The mimosa is also called Sensitive Plant and is an evergreen half shrub up to 50 cm tall with finely feathered leaves that curl up when touched, hence the name. The flowers are particularly pretty with their pink round flower heads consisting of countless fragile stamens. The mimosa needs a sunny warm location above 15°C, so it is a plant for the windowsill or conservatory.
Sowing & cultivation: The seeds should first be watered with hot (not boiling) water and soaked for 6-12 hours. Then the seeds are sown in growing soil mixed with some sand and about 0.5 mm deep. The temperature should be constant at 22-25°C and the soil should be kept moist (not wet), then the seeds germinate after 1 to 3 weeks. Afterwards the mimosa feels comfortable at 15-20°C and with constantly slightly moist soil. In winter a location with 15°C is recommended, then only water so much that the root ball does not dry out.
