Cowslip Primrose Seeds
Info: The Cowslip Primrose is one of the first spring flowers in the garden and delights with its pretty little yellow flowers and intense violet fragrance. It is perennial, relatively undemanding, likes a sunny to semi-shady location and sows itself again and again.
In the past it was used as a medicinal plant for colds and gout. It is also a well-known remedy as a component of cough syrup.
In the kitchen the young leaves of the cowslip can be used as a salad addition. The flowers are also edible and therefore a very beautiful decoration for dishes.
Sowing & cultivation: The cowslip is a cold-germination plant. The seeds should first be kept moist and warm (at approx. 15 - 20°C) for 2-4 weeks. Then put them in the fridge for 4-6 weeks (-4°C to +4°C). Or better: sow them in autumn outdoors or in seed vessels outside. The seed trays should be kept at +5°C to +10°C for a few weeks after the cooling period. The seeds don`t like sudden increases in temperature to around 20°C. Cowslip flowers like a sunny to semi-shady location.
