Dahlia Dwarf Dandy Seeds
Info: Dahlia Dwarf Dandy is a dwarf bushy variety that produces large flower in a range of colours that have an open habit with quilled petals in the centres making them quite striking. Maximum height is approx. 40 cm. They will flower late into autumn until the first frost.
Sowing & Cultivation: Sow from the beginning of March in pre-culture (not earlier, as otherwise the seedlings get too little light and etiolate). Sowing depth approx. 0.5 cm in fine compost, preferably in individual pots. Keep soil damp but not wet. So that the young plants grow bushy, the main sprout can be cut. After a short time, the plant sprouts there with twice or even four times the number of shoots. From mid-May, you can gradually acclimatise the plants to outdoor conditions before planting out after all risk of frost. Bed distance approx. 40 cm. Dahlias prefer good moisture retentive soil and full sun.
Growing dahlias from seeds is a good alternative for all those who do not have a suitable place to hibernate the tubers.
