Info: The shade tolerant sweet cicely, also known as Myrrenkerbel is a spice and fragrance plant. It has a distinctive, sweet anise aroma. If you like liquorice, you will love healthy sweets. The most intense taste is found in the elongated green fruits. It is suitable for consumption in all its parts. The leaves fit perfectly to fish dishes, salads or sauces. But also from the roots you can conjure a delicious vegetable dish. Furthermore it can also be used for potpourris or perfume bouquets due to its fragrance.
Sowing & cultivation: Sweet cicely are cold pots. It is best to sow in September. A semi-shaded, humid, moist garden soil is ideal for winter hard plants. The seeds require several cold winter months before they germinate. The sowing depth should be at 0.5-1cm and the planting distance 50cm.
