Mentha Pennyroyal Seeds
Info: Mentha Pennyroyal is a highly aromatic herb, with a strong peppermint scent to its dark green leaves. This creeping variety has prostrate stems which root from the leaf nodes as they spread will carpet the ground. In summer, it bears lots of attractive whorls of lilac-blue flowers. Due to its intense essential oil it will deter ants and when dried it can be used as a moth repellant. Pennyroyal was formerly much used medicinally but for most people its taste and odour are too pronounced for their taste buds. Precaution: Pennyroyal is highly toxic to cats.
Sowing & cultivation: Sow in late spring or late summer. Do not cover the seed as they need light for germination. Their ideal position would be in full sun, with a fertile soil that is not too wet. Mulch in winter in very cold areas.
