Catnip Seeds
Info: Catnip is a perennial, very beautiful and long flowering perennial, ideal for borders, because it is decorative for a very long time. It is also a beautiful companion plant for roses or in rock gardens. The small purple-blue flowers (labiates) stand in ears and bloom from June to September (from the second year on).
Catnip needs dry, warm habitats and tolerates semi-shade. The cats that give their name are usually not so interested, but if you want to be on the safe side, protect the small plants with a wire basket until they are established.
In the past, catnip could not be missed in any monastery or herb garden. It is a medicinal plant against colds, for calming and promoting digestion.
Sowing & Cultivation: Sowing is best in May / June directly outdoors with 5 cm seed spacing and 20 to 30 cm row spacing. Only cover lightly with soil. The area should be sunny and the soil fertile and permeable, with a neutral pH value. It is also suitable for sandy soils.
