Purple Cherokee Tomato Seeds
Info: The Purple Cherokee tomato is a very old variety which was cultivated by the Cherokee Indians. The flat-round beefsteak tomatoes ripen to a brownish-red to violet colour, have a thin skin and are very flavourful with a slight sweetness. They can reach a weight of over 300 g and more. The plants grow up to 180 cm high and the shoots should be regularly pinched off. Due to their thin skin, you should ensure that you do not water them too much, otherwise the fruits may burst.
Care: You can grow the Purple Cherokee tomatoes inside the house, in a greenhouse or outdoors. The optimal germination temperature is between 20 and 25°C, and germination occurs after 8 - 14 days. You can speed up the germination process if you leave the seeds to soak overnight in a damp cloth. You should wait until after the last frost to plant your chosen plants.
Tomatoes need fresh, well-fertilised, permeable soil which is kept moist (but not wet!). They should be planted in a sunny, protected place with at least 6 hours of sunlight - preferably more.
