Hillbilly Tomato Seeds
Info: The Hillbilly tomato is a beautiful yellow-pink-orange marbled beefsteak tomato from West Virginia (USA) which was first cultivated in 1880. The tomatoes are soft and juicy and have an intense tomatoey flavour with a fruity note. They are flat-round and grow up to approx. 300 to 700 g in weight. They are suitable for fresh consumption and for cooking. The plants need a warm place and the shoots should be pinched off.
Care: You can grow the Hillbilly tomatoes inside the house, in a greenhouse or outdoors. The optimal germination temperature is between 20 and 25°C, and germination occurs after 8 - 14 days. You can speed up the germination process if you leave the seeds to soak overnight in a damp cloth. You should wait until after the last frost to plant your chosen plants.
Tomatoes need fresh, well-fertilised, permeable soil which is kept moist (but not wet!). They should be planted in a sunny, protected place with at least 6 hours of sunlight - preferably more.
