Ailsa Craig Tomato Seeds
Info: The Ailsa Craig tomato originates from Scotland and was bred at the beginning of the 20th century. It was named after the island of Ailsa Craig in the Firth of Clyde. The plants were originally bred for cultivation in greenhouses, but can also grow outdoors. The tomatoes are medium-sized (approx. 50 g), round and bright red. The fruits are sweet-flavoured and burst-resistant, and are great for both fresh consumption and cooking.
Care: You can grow the Ailsa Craig tomatoes inside the house, in a greenhouse or outdoors. The optimal germination temperature is between 20 and 25°C, and germination occurs after 8 - 14 days. You can speed up the germination process if you leave the seeds to soak overnight in a damp cloth. You should wait until after the last frost to plant your chosen plants.
Tomatoes need fresh, well-fertilised, permeable soil which is kept moist (but not wet!). They should be planted in a sunny, protected place with at least 6 hours of sunlight - preferably more.
