Pea Douce Provence Seeds
Info: Pea `Douce Provence` is a very sweet, succulent and versatile variety which grows compact to a height of 45 to 60cm. Normally sown from March to early June they will be ready to pick in 11 to 13 weeks. Due to its hardiness Douce Provence can also be grown as an over-winter pea, therefore it is sown in mid October to November and harvest starts from early May onwards. The compact plants also make an excellent variety for containers and pots.
Sowing & cultivation: Sow when the soil is warm to the touch, which will be some time between the middle of March and the end of April. Sowing depth: 4-5 cm. Peas require a sunny position with well-drained and nutrient-rich soil, but not acidic. Use bamboo canes, pea sticks, trellis, netting or chicken wire as a climbing support for the plants. Once you feel the seeds in the pod, the peas are ripe for harvest. The more you harvest, the more they will produce. As the containing sugar decomposes very quickly, they taste sweetest immediately after harvesting.
