Chinese Kale Seeds
Info: Chinese kale is also known as kailaan or Chinese broccoli. It is a leafy kale with a deep green colour. It has a similar flavour to European broccoli, but on a rather more refined plant with all parts edible, from the deliciously tender stems and leaves, to buds and flowers. It is very popular in Chinese mandarin cuisine and in Thai cuisine. Blanching before cooking helps tenderize stems and leaves. The young leaves are also used in fresh salads.
Sowing & cultivation: In mild climate areas, sow seeds in spring after last frost in a sunny location. Can be sown from early spring through to late autumn and is ready within two months of sowing. Seed depth is about 1 cm with a distance of 30x30 cm. It prefers a sunny location on a fertile, well-drained soil. Keep soil moist. Harvest main stalk when it reaches 8-10" tall and 2-3 flowers are open.
