Kohl Rabi Delicacy Purple Seeds
Info: Kohl Rabi `Delicacy Purple` is a purple variety that is a little later in maturity than the `White Delicacy`, but slightly more tender and with more flavour. It is low growing, reaching about 30cm in height and matures quickly, progressing from sowing to harvesting in a couple of months. In the kitchen, it`s great for slicing or shaving into a salad, shredding into coleslaw, stir-frying, or roasting with a meaty entree. The leaves are quite a treat, too, slow cooked like you would other greens or sauté with garlic and olive oil.
Sowing & cutivation: Sow outdoors between March to the end of June. For a late autumn or winter crop sow in August. Sowing depth: 1 cm, in rows 30cm apart. Kohl Rabi likes partial-shade, in firm, fertile, free-draining soil. Kohl Rabi grows best during cool weather and matures quickly, progressing from sowing to harvesting in a couple of months. They are not quite hardy enough to be classified as a winter vegetable, but they do withstand frost if there is snow or a cover.
