Brussels sprout Long Island Improved Seeds
Info: The brussel sprout Long Island Improved is a traditional strain from the USA. It has been grown there since about 1890 and has established itself there as an important variety. The compact plant forms massively dark green, 3cm large, firm florets. Brussels sprouts are a great accompaniment to fish and meat dishes. Even different wild varieties are rounded off with this vitamin-rich vegetables.
Sowing & cultivation: Sowing can be done outdoors from April. Sowing depth should be about 0.5-1cm. A row spacing of 50 x 50cm is required. It needs a sunny to partially shaded sheltered location. A humus rich, nutrient-rich, clay soil is optimal. The soil should be deeply loosened and enriched with garden compost and horn meal. The plants should be kept permanently moist and accumulated in early summer for greater stability.
