Cabbage Michihili Seeds
Info: Chinese cabbage originally comes from China and forms compact cylindrical heads. Usually, it is sown in July as a second crop, but this variety can already be sown in April and harvested in late summer. Michihili produces a cylindrical, leafy and compact head of 40cm long and is very resistant against diseases. The tender leaves are often used raw as a romaine lettuce would be, in salads or coleslaw. resh Chinese cabbage is rich in potassium, magnesium, calcium and vitamin C, which makes it a particularly healthy, immersive autumn vegetable.
Sowing & Cultivation: Sow in April or July in open field in rows with a distance of 50 cm, approx. 2 cm deep. All brassica crops grow best in wind-protected partial-shade, in firm, fertile, free-draining soil. They can also cope with somewhat cooler weather, but needs regular watering (without waterlogging) and fertilization. Since it leaches the soil strongly, the beds should be able to rest between the cultivation 2 to 3 years. Harvest time for summer sowing is in October til November. It tolerates light frost. In case of permanent ground frost, take the heads with the roots out of the ground and store them in the cellar in a crate filled with moist sand.
