Black Salsify Giant Rooted Maxima Seeds
Info: The black salsify Giant Rooted Maxima is a particularly large salsify that grows long, tasty roots. Salsify is a very old root vegetable that has been cultivated for several hundred years. Beneath the dark, almost black skin lies a sweet, almost creamy, delicate white flesh that can be steamed, boiled or fried. The leaves are also used as a salad or prepared like spinach.
Sowing & cultivation: The sowing can be done from March directly into the field. Sowing depth should be 2-3 cm. Sawing is best done in rows with a row spacing of 30-40cm and a planting distance of 8-10cm. Care should be taken to have a deep, humus-rich, well-loosened and fertilized soil. The soil should be regularly loosened and kept evenly moist. Since salsify is a medium-sized crop, it requires some additional compost to fertilize.
