Carrot Amsterdam Forcing Seeds
Info: Carrot `Amsterdam Forcing` produces uniform, slender, finger shaped, approx. 13 to 15 cm long carrots with a rich deep orange red colour and almost no core. It is fast growing and one of the earliest to mature. With a sweet flavour and crisp texture they are excellent for using raw.
Sowing & cultivation: Sow from Feb under cloches or fleece. Can be sown outdoors as late as August. Sow them as thinly as possible, this reduces the amount of thinning necessary. Mix the seeds with a handful of sharp sand and sow the seeds and sand together. Plants should be kept well watered and carrots prefer a sandy, well-drained soil. Too much nitrogen will cause the carrots to grow hairy little roots all up and down the carrot.
