Carrot Purple Dragon Seeds
Info: Make your salads and vegetable dishes a treat for the eyes. This gorgeous reddish-purple variety has a smooth and attractive outside that makes a nice contrast with the brilliant orange interior, especially when served as slices. The roots can reach a length of 12 to 15 cm and you can get well-formed roots even in somewhat tight or heavy soil. Their flavour is spicy-sweet and wonderfully complex-wonderful for snacking, and kids really seem to love them!
Sowing & cultivation: Sow from Febuary under cloches or fleece. Can be sown outdoors as late as August. Sow them as thinly as possible, this reduces the amount of thinning necessary. Mix the seeds with a handful of sharp sand and sow the seeds and sand together. Plants should be kept well watered and carrots prefer a sandy, well-drained soil. Too much nitrogen will cause the carrots to grow hairy little roots all up and down the carrot.
