Carrot Scarlet Nantes Seeds

Info: Carrot `Scarlet Nantes` originates from Nantes in France and is a wonderful French heirloom with an intensive carrot flavour and deep orange, crispy roots. It matures early and relatively fast and the 15 to 18 cm long roots are virtually coreless and have a sweet tender flavour. The variety is suitable as both second early and as a maincrop.

Sowing & cultivation: Sow from Febuary under cloches or fleece. Can be sown outdoors as late as August. Sow them as thinly as possible, this reduces the amount of thinning necessary. Mix the seeds with a handful of sharp sand and sow the seeds and sand together. Plants should be kept well watered and carrots prefer a sandy, well-drained soil. Too much nitrogen will cause the carrots to grow hairy little roots all up and down the carrot.
