Sweetcorn Black Aztec Seeds
Info: Sweetcorn `Black Aztec` is an old Indian heirloom with plants that can grow up to 3 meters high and produce many cobs with black-purple grains. The cobs can be used small as sweet corn (they are still white) or mature like corn kernels (then shiny black). You can use it for an interesting blue-gray corn flour or popcorn - the eye-catcher at the TV evening or children`s birthday.
Sowing & cultivation: Sow from May on outdoors. Use a dibber to make 2.5cm holes and sow two or three seeds every 30cm with 45 cm between rows. Sweetcorn grows best if planted in large blocks. It likes free-draining, moisture retentive and nutrient-rich soil. The plants are shallow rooted: protection from winds and water loss in the soil is very important.
