Sweetcorn Red Rubin Seeds
Info: `Rubin Red` is a new sweet corn with an amazing corn colour - it`s really red! You won`t believe how appetizing a red corn can be until you see it on your plate, then bite into the extra-sweet, tender kernels. You can enjoy Rubin Red at two stages: Pick it when it`s blush-red for maximum sweetness, or let it ripen to full red so it can develop its rich, old-fashioned corn flavour. The meaty ears are 15-20 cm long with 18 rows of juicy, very tender kernels. Plants grow up to 2 meters tall and often bear two ears apiece. Steaming or microwaving are the best cooking methods for enhancing the delectable colour.
Sowing & cultivation: Sow from May on outdoors. Use a dibber to make 2.5cm holes and sow two or three seeds every 30cm with 45 cm between rows. Sweetcorn grows best if planted in large blocks. It likes free-draining, moisture retentive and nutrient-rich soil. The plants are shallow rooted: protection from winds and water loss in the soil is very important.
