Melon Piel de Sapo Seed
Info: The honeydew melon Piel De Sapo (Toad Skin) comes from Spain and is known by various names, Santa Claus Melon, Christmas Melon Pinonet Piel de Sapo, Toat Skin, Pele de Sapo, Pinyonet de Valencia. The Piel de Sapo has an oval shape with a green ground colour on which there are stripy, dark green warts. It has a white, very sweet and aromatic flesh. Its thick, firm skin is typical of storable winter melons. Sowing & growing: Melons like it warm (warmer than tomatoes) and usually grow best under glass (greenhouse or foil tunnel), but can also be grown outdoors in warmer regions. Sow as a pre-crop from March to May 1 cm deep in 8-10 cm pots. Plant out 2 weeks after the last frost at a distance of 75 - 100 cm. Melons prefer rather diffuse light, a nutrient-rich and well-drained, but well-moisturised soil and they need a climbing aid. As soon as the plants have reached the end of the cut off the main shoot, the plant will put more energy into producing new fruits. The formation of new fruits. When the leaves near the ground turn yellow, fertilise with tomato fertiliser. Water regularly! If you grow melons in a greenhouse, you must pollinate them yourself.
Support the fruit-bearing branches if necessary. Melons are ripe when the fruits begin to smell and sound hollow when tapped.
