Mexican Mini Melon Cucamelon Seeds
Info: This Mexican mini melon is a true novelty in European gardens - but it`s absolutely worth growing.
The fruits are tiny watermelon look-a-likes and small enough to fit into a teaspoon, yet bite into one and the flavour is pure cucumber with a refreshing tinge of lime. The vines produce a constant stream of fruit throughout the summer. Cucamelons can be eaten in exactly the same way as traditional cucumbers - sliced into salads, chopped into salsas or pickled whole like cornichons.
Sowing & cultivation: Growing cucamelons is no hassle at all. Simply start them indoors in march (sowing depth 1-2 cm), and plant them outdoors after the last frost. Support the plants with canes, or a simple bamboo wigwam / frame, then simply let them ramble and scramble skyward up to 2 meters and more. A sunny, sheltered place is ideal. In Europe, the plant grows as an annual, but you can dig up the root tuber overwinter it just like dahlias.
