Lettuce Red Velvet Seeds
Info: Picking lettuce Red Velvet is a beautiful heirloom variety with attractive burgundy-red to brown coloured leaves and mild, full flavour. The variety is productive and is suitable for both spring and autumn cultivation.
The leaves are harvested from the outside in. If you sow small quantities at intervals of 3-4 weeks, you can harvest throughout the whole garden Season.
Sowing & cultivation: Sow outdoors successively between March to August. Seed depth 6 - 12 mm in short rows about 20 - 30 cm apart. When the seedlings are about 2cm tall, thin them out. A rich soil is excellent for lettuce, but the crop will also do well in average garden soil. Fertilize the soil with compost or horn meal before sowing. Watering is essential, the plants need almost constantly moist ground as dry soil will cause the plants to put their energy into producing flowers.
