Corn Salad Vit Seeds
Info: Vit is probably the most vigorous growing variety for spring and autumn cropping. It is mildew-resistant and produces long, oval, glossy green leaves of tender, nutty and slightly minty flavour. Despite of its tender leaves, corn salad, also known as lamb`s lettuce, field salad or mâche, is a very cold hardy salad that grows best during autumn and winter and can be picked between November and January. Field salad stores well for up to two weeks in a plastic bag in the refrigerator and is a good supplier for Vitamin C, beta-carotene, B6, B9, Vitamin E, and iron, especially in winter when other sources are rare.
Sowing & Cultivation: Sow successionally at fortnightly intervals either in March or from late summer to late autumn in rows 13mm deep and 15cm apart. Cover seeds with 3mm of fine soil. Thin to 15-20cm apart in rows when the plants are 5cm tall. Corn salad will grow in nearly all soils and situations but enjoys rich moist soil. Harvesting can begin within a few weeks of sowing when the plants have produced four pairs of leaves.
