Winter purslane Seeds
Info: The vitamin dispenser for the cold season! Winter purslane is also known under the name of Cuba-spinach. The annual, up to 30cm high is best suited as winter culture. It is rich in Vitamin C, potassium, calcium and iron. Winter purslane is almost completely consumable. The taste is mild,fresh and nutty. It can be eaten as salad, stewed like spinach or in herb butter.
Sowing & cultivation: Because the winter-hard Winter purslane can not tolerate temperatures above 12°C for germination, the colder months of the year are ideal for sowing. The best month to sow is therefore October. Ideal for the Winter purslane is a half shaded protected place. Use a soil that is not so rich in nutrients. Furthermore, the plant does not need any further addition of fertilizers. The seeds should be sown in a row spacing of 10-15cm and a depth of 0,5-1cm.
