Pak Choi White Stem Seeds
Info: Pak Choi is a typical Asian salad with dark green leaves and white stalks. The leaves are used for fresh salads and the strong stalks can be boiled or steamed as vegetables with short cooking time, like asparagus or Asian stir-fries. Pak Choi has a mild spicy, fresh taste. It is easy to grow and grows fast.
Pak Choi Green is an interesting new Pak Choi variety with green smooth round leaves on pale green thick stems. It is a vigorous grower producing heavy yields 40 days after sowing, and the leaves have a stronger flavour than other Pak Choi varieties. They are suitable as raw food or for steaming.
Sowing & cultivation: Pak Choi can be cultivated during the whole year, mostly it is sown in spring or autumn. Pak Choi grows best in a sunny position in a fertile soil. Sow thinly, direct into finely raked, moist, weed free soil 6mm deep in rows 30cm apart. Thin the resulting seedlings, leaving the strongest to a final spacing of 20cm apart. Water regularly and provide a weak liquid feed once a week. They are snail magnets, so plants need protection in the open garden. Plants reach a stage for `baby leaf` harvest in 28 days and mature plants take around 50 days.
