Lettuce New Red Fire Seeds
Info: Lettuce `New Red Fire` has sweet frilly leaves with a light green base deeply filled in wine red. It is a popular choice amongst growers for its excellent uniformity and its superb taste. The heads grow relatively slowly, but have a high bolting and weather tolerance.
Sowing & cultivation: Sow outdoors successively between March to August. Seed depth 6 - 12 mm in short rows about 20 - 30 cm apart. When the seedlings are about 2cm tall, thin them out. A rich soil is excellent for lettuce, but the crop will also do well in average garden soil. Fertilize the soil with compost or horn meal before sowing. Watering is essential, the plants need almost constantly moist ground as dry soil will cause the plants to put their energy into producing flowers.
