Lettuce Parris Island Cos Seeds
Info: `Parris Island Cos` is a Romaine lettuce that is beloved by growers, because of its crisp, super uniform, upright and sweetly scrumptious leaves and its large and slender heads. The tender crisp leaves with delicate white hearts and the perfectly folded centers for scooping dips or holding dressings have won the hearts of gardeners for generations. It was bred in South Carolina in 1951 and has a great disease tolerance and moderate bolt resistance.
Sowing & cultivation: Sow outdoors successively between March to August. Seed depth 6 - 12 mm in short rows about 20 - 30 cm apart. When the seedlings are about 2cm tall, thin them out. A rich soil is excellent for oakleaf, but the crop will also do well in average garden soil. Fertilize the soil with compost or horn meal before sowing. Watering is essential, the plants need almost constantly moist ground as dry soil will cause the plants to put their energy into producing flowers.
