Fennel Sweet Florence Seeds
Info: The fennel `Sweet Florence` is particularly suitable as a vegetable fennel. It does not bolt and forms large solid, white, juicy and tasty bulbs for mid-season production. The bulbs can be eaten raw, roasted or slow-cooked. Since it tastes very intensively, the bulbs are best cut into fine slices. Fennel fits well with fish and meat dishes. It is best to store in the refrigerator in the vegetable coooler.
Sowing & cultivation: Sow outdoors from April to August in a well-drained, sheltered but sunny position. Seedlings do not transplant well, so it is better to sow directly 25 to 30cm apart and then thin them out as necessary. If fennel is being grown exclusively for its foliage, remove flower heads to promote bushier growth. Fennel can be grown as an annual, although the established roots will overwinter easily. If allowed, the plant will self-sow generously.
