Tomatillo Verde Seeds
Info: The Tomatillo Verde is one of the most popular Mexican vegetables. They are related to Cape gooseberry and are among the night shadow plants. They also have the prominent, lantern-shaped fruit pod. Visually, the golfball-sized fruits remind of green tomatoes. Tomatillo fruits are used especially in Latin cuisine. The fruit can be used completely except to the stem neck and the sepals blossom. They taste excellent in soups or stews. They are also the main ingredient of the so-called Salsa Verde.
Sowing & cultivation: The use of a nutrient-poor peat-sand mixture is recommended as a substrate. Coconut fibers or fine-grained perlite have proved themselves to be the best. The seeds should be distributed at 2-3 cm intervals in small seedlings. Thinly cover with substrate or sand. In order to reach the necessary germination temperatures, we recommend to pre-cultivate the seeds in a room greenhouse. Alternatively, there is also a warm window sill. Regular humidification during the growth phase is absolutely necessary. From a size of 10cm the plants should be supported with a rod. For planting, a sunny, warm and wind-sheltered location should be used with nutrient-rich, well-drained and humus-rich soil.
