Okra Blondy Seeds
Info: Okra Blondy is a dwarf, creamy white-podded okra with a flower similar to a small hibiscus bloom. It is an early producing okra, mature in just 50 days, and well-suited for mid-european gardeners.
Originally, Okra (also called lady`s fingers) comes from northern Africa, where it still grows wild. This unusual member of the hibiscus family has an important part in African, Mediterranean and Oriental cuisine. Common varieties produce compact, strong vigorous plants with prolific bright green pods, and exceptional yields of tender, less fibrous pods over a longer season.
Sowing & cultivation: As the Okra origins from warmer regions, the plante need a well-drained and sheltered position with plenty of sun. They cannot cope with waterlogging. Germination temperature is between 21°C and 32°C it is therefore recommended to use a greenhouse and a heating mat is recommended. Sow seeds indoors in individual pots 1-2 cm deep. Transplant to larger pots as the plants grow larger or to a sunny and sheltered position in the garden. The plants require plenty of water over the growing period. Pods are ideal when 5 to 10cm long, they get very tough and stringy when over mature.
